What Size Cuff Should I Choose?

The Aircast Knee Cryo/Cuff is available in three different sizes according to the circumference of your thigh. To find out which size you require, please measure the circumference of your thigh 15cm (6") above the centre point of your kneecap as shown in the diagram below. Once you have your measurement, please refer to the sizing chart to fin your size.

How to measure the circumference of your knee
Measure around the centre of the kneecap as shown

Size Measurement (cm)
Small 25 - 48cm
Medium 48 - 59cm
Large 59 - 79cm

Our Sizing Tips

  • For measurements that fall between two sizes, we recommend going with the larger size for greater comfort
  • If you do not have a flexible tape measure, take your measurement using a piece of string, then measure the string with a ruler
  • If your joints are swollen, please take this into account when choosing your size

Key Features and Benefits

  • Anatomically designed cuff completely covers the affected area
  • Provides measured compression for your comfort
  • Detachable cooler allows for uninterrupted treatment
  • Helps minimise swelling and reduce pain
  • Provides cold compression to the knee
  • Designed to be as safe and easy to use as possible

How Does the Aircast Cryo/Cuff Work?

The Aircast Cryo/Cuff works by combining compression with cold therapy for a premium pain relieving experience. By constricting blood vessels and decreasing blood circulation, cold compression works to significantly reduces swelling and inflammation, while also helping to numb the area and lessen any pain.

Which Cooler Unit Should I Choose?

The Aircast Cryo/Cuff system can be used with either one of two cooler units depending on your needs. Both cooler units offer six to eight hours of gravity-fed compression therapy, but differ in the amount of compression therapy they can provide. The two cooler units are:

How Do I Use the Cuff?

For information on how to use the cuff, simply follow the steps below:

Step One: Prepare the Cooler

Connect the blue tube to the cooler and fill the cooler to the line with water. Add ice and place the insulation disk on top. Close the lid of the cooler and allow up to five minutes for the water to cool.

Step Two: Apply the Cuff

Rest the cuff on the front of the knee and secure using the top strap. Flex the knee slightly and position the cuff so that the knee cap is exposed through the opening and secure using the bottom strap. (See figure 1).

Step Three: Fill the Cuff

Connect the blue tube to the cuff. If you are using the standard Aircast Cold Therapy Cooler, open the air vent located on the top of the cooler lid and raise the cooler no more than fifteen inches above the cuff. (See figure 2).

Hold the cooler in this position for about thirty seconds or until the cuff is full. Close the air vent on the cooler lid and disconnect the cuff from the cooler by the pressing the metal tab on the quick disconnect valve.

Step Four: Rechill the Water

Reconnect the blue tube to the cuff and raise the cuff above the cooler. This will allow for the water to drain from the cuff back into the cooler. Allow up to two minutes for the water to rechill before repeating the filling process.

For more information about how to use the cuff, see the manual below:

How Long Can I Use the Cuff For?

You can use the cuff for up to two hours per session but it is recommended that you leave a period of at least twenty minutes between uses. Unlike typical ice packs, the cooling unit recirculates the water to keep it nice and cold all the time, negating the need for constant re-freezing.

Can I Apply the Cuff Directly onto My Skin?

To avoid risk of skin burn, it is vital that you wrap the skin of the target area with a cloth or bandage or something similar, before using the cuff.

How Do I Clean the Cuff?

To keep your Cryo/Cuff clean, simply wash the cuff with soap and hot water before rinsing and leaving to air dry. This process can also be used to clean the blue tube and cooler units also.
